HFH and Top Chef

Wednesday saw episode 2 of Top Chef 4, and, to be honest, I was kind of busy and didn’t really see much of it, even though it was on.  The first time I really started to pay attention, I realized it was already about forty minutes into the show.  The premise was that they were cooking for an event at a zoo (I think), and they were split into 5 teams, all receiving a different animal and its diet to base a menu around.  I thought that was a really cool idea.  Interesting to try that one night with a vegetarian animal.

But, Mr Stinky, you are no doubt asking yourself, why were you not really paying much attention to your beloved Top Chef?  I was busy on the phone with my mom and then online afterwards, making arrangements to realize a goal both my wife and I have – to see His Holiness the Dalai Lama in person.  He will be in Madison, WI on July 19, which is about two to two and a half hours away from Chicago (where my parents live).  We will go in to Chicago the day before, then my parents will watch my son while my wife and I traverse to Madison for the talk.  Between airfare, hotel, etc., this was going to be an expensive venture for us.  Luckily, my wife was thinking and asked how far it is from Chicago.  Works out well because then his G-ma and G-pa (if he’s not out of town) will get to spend a little time with him.  I’m excited about that.
